Men's Plastic Surgery in New Jersey

Men are subjected to the same advertising and social media criticism as women. Therefore, it should not be surprising that men have just as much interest in bettering their physical appearance and levels of self-confidence as their female counterparts. While men are still statistically only a fraction of the plastic surgery market, making up between 10 and 20 percent of patients, the benefits offered through cosmetic enhancements span across genders. Men's plastic surgery offers relief from facial and body contour irregularities to restore a more youthful, fit, and natural-looking appearance. Dr. Beverly Friedlander offers premier plastic surgery for men in New Jersey, at her Short Hills center.

What can I expect during my men's plastic surgery recovery?

Men's plastic surgery, as with women, is an outpatient procedure, and you can return home to begin your recovery once the anesthesia wears off.

Men can expect to develop some bruising, swelling, tightness, and tenderness in the treatment areas that will start to dissipate after a few days. Any post-operative pain or discomfort can be alleviated with prescribed or over-the-counter pain medication. Depending on the procedures performed/combined in male plastic surgery, men can expect to take anywhere from one to two weeks off of work and their daily activities. Many men are able to work remotely two to three days after their procedure, but they should refrain from strenuous activity or heavy lifting for three to four weeks. Men who undergo non-surgical treatments, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, CoolSculpting®, or Ultherapy®, can return to their normal activities immediately following their procedure. There is no downtime associated with these treatments.

Are there any risks associated with Plastic Surgery for Men?

  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Prolonged swelling
  • Hematoma
  • Seroma
  • Unfavorable scarring

When will I see my men's plastic surgery results?

The results of your NJ men's plastic surgery will start to become visible immediately following your surgery and will continue to improve as the bruising and swelling subside. Most men see their final results and their improved masculine contours a few weeks to a few months following their surgery. Men's plastic surgery results will last as long as they are maintained. These procedures will not stop the natural aging process and may be impacted by significant fluctuations in weight.
