What is CoolSculpting?

Internationally acclaimed and FDA-approved, CoolSculpting offers a non-invasive approach to fat reduction. Renowned as the leading system in its field, it empowers men and women worldwide to achieve their targeted fat reduction and body sculpting goals.

Performed in the comfort of Dr. Friedlander's office, it takes as little as 35 minutes to treat a region. CoolSculpting works to eliminate stubborn fat by removing the fat cells through a process called cryolipolysis. Unlike weight loss, where the actual cell gets smaller, the procedure destroys the fat cells in the treated area. The fat cell is susceptible to changes in temperature. By selectively reducing the temperature, about one-quarter of the fat cells treated succumb to the cold and crystalize, dying off. The debris left behind as the cell crystallizes is processed and eliminated naturally from the body. You should be happy to learn that your body does not produce more fat cells after adolescence, so the fat cells that die off are gone for good.

What areas of the body can be treated with CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is an extremely versatile treatment that can be used to target fat in various areas of the body, including under the chin and in the neck, arms, upper and lower abs, back, and inner and outer thighs. It's a great option for individuals who are at or close to their target weight but would benefit from bespoke body contouring in key areas.

CoolSculpting the Chin and Neck

This treatment is a popular choice for sculpting away fat from under the chin (known as submental fat) and on the neck, which contributes to the appearance of a double chin. Addressing fat in the jawline area can refine your facial appearance and reverse signs of aging, creating a more lifted and taut profile.

CoolSculpting the Arms

Using carefully controlled cryolipolysis, CoolSculpting can eliminate localized fat pockets in the upper arms, helping to contour the area for a more toned, slender appearance.

CoolSculpting the Upper Abdomen

By reducing excess fat in the upper abdomen, this procedure can contribute to a slimmer and more contoured abdominal area. Many people find that reducing fat in the upper abdomen leads to better-fitting clothes and increased confidence in their appearance.

CoolSculpting the Lower Abdomen

The lower abdominal area is a common place for stubborn fat to accumulate, even with a healthy lifestyle. The treatment can effectively address localized fat deposits that may be resistant to diet and exercise for a more slender, smooth waistline.

CoolSculpting the Back

With CoolSculpting NJ patients can eliminate fat accumulations in the lower back and upper back (sometimes called "bra fat"). This helps to create a smoother appearance, eliminating bulges or rolls and potentially helping you enjoy a wider variety of fashions.

CoolSculpting the Inner and Outer Thighs

The inner and outer thighs are common areas for fat deposits to collect, including "saddlebags" on the outer thighs and "banana rolls" near the crease between the buttocks and thighs. CoolSculpting helps to trim and contour these areas for a more streamlined appearance and improved physical comfort.

Can CoolSculpting treat cellulite?

This procedure is not designed to treat cellulite because it addresses fat cells rather than connective tissues. Other procedures like Avéli Cellulite Treatment or Morpheus8 Body are often more effective for addressing cellulite concerns.

What are the Benefits of CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting offers a non-surgical treatment in the comfort of our office. As you age, your body begins to accumulate stubborn fatty tissue in various areas. While diet and exercise can help some New Jersey CoolSculpting patients rid themselves of unwanted fat, others may need to undergo plastic surgery.

Surgery can provide excellent results; however, many people tend to stray away from it due to the time and recovery required. CoolSculpting offers gradual improvement. Your clothing begins to fit better, and because there is no downtime associated with this treatment, those around you may wonder if you have lost weight or have started a new exercise program. This body sculpting treatment provides patients with the following benefits to help them reach their aesthetic goals.

Non-invasive Treatment

Unlike other body contouring procedures, CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure that does not require incisions or leave any visible scars. As a result, you can enjoy your new, slim physique without the worry of anesthesia, downtime, or discomfort.

Smoother Contours

Some patients may not be able to achieve a toned appearance through strict diet and exercise. CoolSculpting can target even the most stubborn of fat, such as belly fat, along large sections of the body to provide you with smooth and toned contours.

Improved Self-esteem

Your physical appearance can determine how you feel about yourself. New Jersey CoolSculpting candidates who struggle with excess fat may feel embarrassed or self-conscious about the way they look. CoolSculpting can boost your self-esteem, along with providing you the contours you've always desired. Now you have the chance to wear the clothes you've always wanted.

CoolSculpting Procedure

True Beauty Med Spa in New Jersey

Our certified New Jersey CoolSculpting providers are highly-skilled aestheticians, who will identify areas to be treated and strategically mark these areas to provide maximal benefit.

During the procedure, your skin is protected with a gel pad. An applicator, which contours to your body shape, delivers controlled cooling via panels that gently freeze and target the fat below the skin. You may experience some mild numbness and a tingling sensation during your treatment. At the end of the “cycle”, the treated area is warmed up. About one-quarter of the fat cells succumb to the process and begin to die off. As your body removes the debris left behind by the crystallized cells, you will notice a slimmer, more sculpted figure.

CoolSculpting Recovery

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure & does not require incisions. No downtime is necessary to recover from this treatment, and you can return to work and all normal activities afterward.

After receiving her own sessions of CoolSculpting New Jersey Board-Certified Specialist, Dr. Friedlander, was able to return to the gym and perform surgery immediately following her procedures. Some patients experience mild discomfort while we are massaging and warming up the treated area after the procedure. The sensation is often described as the feeling you get when your foot has fallen asleep and is waking up. However, the feeling resolves spontaneously in a short while.

CoolSculpting Results

Beverly Friedlander, MD

Over the course of two to three months after a treatment session, your body will continue to remove the devitalized fat cells, and you will begin to notice a slimmer and more toned contour. You can expect long-lasting results after just one CoolSculpting treatment.

However, some patients may require more than one session to reach their aesthetic goals. The number of treatment sessions needed to achieve your desired results depends on a variety of factors, including the number of treatment areas, the size of treatment areas, and the amount of fat present in the areas. You can achieve long-lasting results with CoolSculpting. However, it is recommended to adopt a healthy diet and include regular physical activity as an ongoing regimen. Your ongoing healthy lifestyle helps sustain your non-surgical fat reduction results. Frequently Asked Questions

CoolSculpting is a safe treatment with a low chance of risks or side effects. However, some temporary risks may include pain, stinging, redness, swelling, bruising, and skin sensitivity along the treated area. Should these or any other issues occur, please contact Dr. Friedlander.

The results of CoolSculpting are permanent as the treated fat cells can not come back once they are destroyed. However, this procedure does not prevent fat from accumulating elsewhere in the future. Therefore, to maintain your results long-term, developing a healthy diet and exercise plan to avoid future weight gain is essential.

CoolSculpting is popular because it is affordable in comparison to surgical fat reduction (liposuction). However, it requires more treatment sessions to achieve a comparable result. If you are unsure whether you need CoolSculpting or liposuction, contact Dr. Bev's True Beauty Med Spa in Short Hills for a consultation. As a board-certified New Jersey plastic surgeon, Dr. Beverly Friedlander routinely performs liposuction and various body contouring procedures in addition to non-surgical fat freezing with CoolSculpting.

This is not a weight loss procedure but a targeted fat reduction treatment. It can help reduce stubborn pockets of fat in specific areas, but it's not designed for overall weight loss. It's best for individuals who are close to their ideal weight and wish to address localized fat deposits.

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure that doesn't rely on skin pigmentation, making it suitable for most skin tones and types.

Depending on your treatment plan and the number of areas being treated, the cost of CoolSculpting will vary for each patient. Our team of skilled medical staff will recommend the number of treatments for you to see ideal results—but the decision is yours.

This is considered a cosmetic treatment and is not covered by medical insurance. However, there may be promotional pricing or Med Spa Membership options to use. Be sure to ask our staff about special offers.
