BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT
If you are not happy with the shape, size or appearance of your buttocks, a buttock enhancement procedure may be right for you. A great deal of media attention has been placed on the buttocks region. A full round buttock has become a symbol of youth and beauty as epitomized by Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez , Shakira and others. Certain cultural and ethnic groups have long worshipped this feature which has recently become attainable with plastic surgery, especially when trying to shape the buttocks through diet and exercise seems like a losing battle.Have a Question
What is a Buttock Lift?
In essence, a buttock lift is a procedure performed that lifts and tightens the skin, creating fuller, rounder, sexier “cheeks”. A Brazilian Buttock Lift is a form of augmentation since it enhances your appearance. It does not require an implant since it uses your fat, a natural resource, to create natural looking results. There are 3 types of buttock lifts offered by Dr. Friedlander at our plastic surgery office in New Jersey:
- Brazilian Butt Lift
- Modified Butt Lift
- Mini Butt Lift
How is a Brazilian Butt Lift performed?
Brazilian Butt Lift
The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is an increasingly popular procedure performed by New Jersey Plastic Surgeon Dr. Friedlander that utilizes your own fat to sculpt and restore fullness to the buttocks. It is based on the science of fat transfers that allows us to remove fat from areas of natural fullness such as the lower abdomen, hip/waist or thigh, and then implant them into new regions. Since fat is removed from the body first, and then transferred, Dr. Friedlander can sculpt and enhance the entire mid section including the abdomen, waist, bra rolls and hips(muffin tops). This is an added bonus making you thinner, before she smooths and rounds out the buttocks. The fat is first harvested with liposuction, processed and cleansed, and then transferred in multiple layers. By layering the fat with special cannulas, she can shape and contour your buttocks creating a curvy silhouette. Your bottom will look naturally lifted and younger. This is ideal for the younger patient looking to improve the shape of her buttocks, but can be performed at any age.
Modified Butt Lift
If you are unhappy with the shape of your buttocks, but you are afraid that a BBL will result in a bigger butt, this modified procedure may be right for you. The procedure is intended to reshape the buttocks. Dr. Friedlander will sculpt your abdomen, waist, hip and/or thigh the same way she performs a BBL. She will then transfer this fat to reshape the buttocks concentrating on contour not size. By modifying the areas the fat is transferred to, she can create a pleasing shape of your buttocks without a significant increase in size. This procedure also comes with the added benefit of making you thinner in areas that fat was harvested from. The result is an overall improvement in shape and contour which is natural looking and well proportioned for your frame.
Mini Butt Lift
A Mini Butt Lift is a procedure championed by Dr. Friedlander. It is ideal for the patient who is interested in reshaping her buttocks but can’t commit to not sitting for a few weeks during the BBL recovery. With the Mini Butt Lift, Dr. Friedlander can enhance the shape of the butt you already have without adding fat to it. The Mini Butt Lift is designed to add definition to your waist, hips and buttocks and to balance your figure. Not all patients are well suited for the Mini Butt Lift. Dr. Friedlander will evaluate the fat distribution pattern in your lower body to determine if you are a candidate. By removing fat from strategic locations with liposuction, Dr. Friedlander can greatly enhance the shape of the buttocks giving the appearance of a lifted, sexier back side.
What can I expect during the consultation?
You will have ample opportunity to discuss your surgical goals with New Jersey Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Friedlander during your consultation. She will explain the procedure to you and after she has examined you, she will be able to recommend the best treatment for you. She and her staff will review the surgery in great detail to make sure that you completely understand the procedure and the recovery.
What is Brazilian Butt Lift recovery process like?
Recovery times vary greatly, depending on where the fat was harvested from and any other procedures performed at the same time, but generally require 1-3 weeks out of work and 6-8 weeks restriction from strenuous activities. Everyone responds differently to surgery. Most patients experience bruising and swelling, and there may be oozing from the small incisions that Dr. Friedlander uses to harvest and transfer the fat. These incisions are small and fade over time. Dr. Friedlander uses a compression garment to help mold the buttocks after surgery and to help reduce the swelling. She will ask you to drink plenty of fluids and to eat a well-balanced diet during your recovery to aid the healing process. You can lay on your stomach and you can walk, but you will not be able to sit, other than on the toilet, for the first 2 weeks. After that, limit the amount of time you sit to ½ to 1 hour at a time, with long breaks in between. Her staff will show you how to use a boppy pillow under your thighs and how to use a special “cane” chair to help reduce any pressure on the freshly transferred fat. It will take time for all the swelling to disappear, but you will be able to see a difference in your figure right after your surgery.
The transferred fat is fragile, and needs time to heal and become part of your buttocks. You need to take care to ensure that your activities will not harm or damage the transferred fat. There is naturally a loss of 20-40 % of the fat as the buttocks heal and as the swelling improves. You may continue to see improvements in your appearance for up to a year.
It is normal to have numbness shortly after the procedure. Your buttocks may feel firmer than the surrounding areas. Rest assured that both of these are part of the healing and resolve, leaving you with a shapelier buttock and improved contours elsewhere.
Are there any tips for recovery after Brazilian Butt Lift?
Recovery from any procedure can be hard because of the disruption in your daily routine. The BBL is unique in this regard since you will be asked NOT to sit or lay on the area for a few weeks. Over the years, Dr. Friedlander’s patients have discovered a variety of ways to help ease the healing process, which we would like to pass on to you.
- Female Urinal– Google “Pee-Zee”, “Easy Pee”– Can be purchased on Amazon– permits urinating while standing without the worry of soiling your garments
- Body Pillow– Google “Body Pillow” to see variety of options–Ideal for side sleeping, but can also be used for tummy sleeping
- Body Pillow for car– see Body Pillow– Especially good for women with large chests
- Boppy Pillow-Google Boppy Pillow— used for nursing mothers, however can be placed under thighs to lift butt and reduce any pressure on healing fat tranfers
- Super Booty Buddy– as seen on “Dr. Miami” website–This is an alternative to a less costly Boppy Pillow–It has an additional component for back support—Liked by some, but not by others since it requires a very deep chair to work well
- Cane Chair– Google cane chair with “sling style seat” can be purchased on Amazon—the sling seat supports the back of the thighs while the butt hangs off the back
Remember do not apply any pressure to buttocks for 1-2 weeks after the surgery. When necessary, sitting is permitted for very short periods and with support as discussed above.
