Brow Lift New Jersey

Brow Lift ProceduresGravity is not our friend. Gravity causes everything to sag, including the brows. Top New Jersey Plastic Surgeon Dr. Bev can address this with a browlift and forehead lift.

What is a Browlift and Forehead Lift?

A forehead lift is intended to restore a more youthful, refreshed look to the upper face. If you are unhappy with the horizontal lines and furrows on your forehead, a browlift may be for you. It will soften those lines, and tighten the skin giving you a more relaxed, youthful appearance. It is frequently performed with an upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) and can be performed with a face lift and other facial rejuvenation procedures to provide facial balance and harmony.

What will a Browlift/Forehead Lift do for me?

  • It will reduce the horizontal lines crossing the forehead , as well as those that occur on the bridge of the nose, between the eyes
  • It can improve frown lines that develop between the eyebrows
  • It raises sagging brows, thus reducing the look of heavy (droopy) upper eyelids
  • It places the eyebrows in a youthful position

The procedure raises the brow to a more aesthetically appealing position without creating the “dear in the headlights” look. It will also improve some fullness over the outside corner of the lid that is sometimes mistaken for a droopy lid. By releasing and fixating the brow laterally with sutures rather than screws, cortical tunnels or other devices, Dr. Friedlander is able to achieve facial harmony without creating an excessively high brow.

Is a Browlift part of a face lift?

A brow lift is a standalone procedure that is often performed with a face lift or eyelid lift. The surgery helps to achieve more youthful contours by reducing the sagging and wrinkles of the forehead. It helps to ensure that all of the facial features appear youthful and friendly, not scowling or sad.

What is the Browlift procedure like?

Several different approaches may be used, but Dr. Friedlander prefers to use an incision in the lateral scalp which can be incorporated into a face lift. The specific approach will be customized to your needs. In patients with a high forehead, an anterior hairline approach may be used. When extensive sun damage is present, or if the skin is very thick and sebaceous, it may be necessary to perform a coronal brow lift. The muscles will be weakened and the skin tightened, elevating the brow in all of the approaches. There may be some postoperative swelling or bruising, which resolves relatively quickly. You may feel a ridge in the hair for several weeks. Sutures or staples are removed after 7-10 days. You are able to return to work in a week if no other surgery is being performed.*
