Dermal fillers can be used to treat wrinkles and creases in your face, plump up your lips, and restore fullness to your cheeks, but which dermal filler should you choose? Keep reading to learn about your options.

Fat

Did you know that your own fat can be used as a facial filler? This provides a very safe and natural way to improve your appearance. Fat can be removed from other areas of the body where it isn’t needed and transferred to the face. It can be removed during a routine liposuction or harvested specifically for use as a facial filler.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is produced naturally by your body. Many popular injectable fillers are made with hyaluronic acid. Common hyaluronic acid fillers include Juvederm, Restylane and Voluma. In most cases these hyaluronic acid fillers all provide immediate results.

Other Fillers

There are a few other fillers available that do not use hyaluronic acids. These include Radiesse and Sculptra. Each of these fillers contains a different ingredient that works in a unique way to improve your appearance and restore volume to your face.

Radiesse is made up of calcium hydroxylapatite granules which can be found in the body naturally. This filler is often used for augmenting large areas of the face and is particularly good for restoring volume to the mid-section of the face. It usually provides longer lasting results than fillers that use hyaluronic acid.

Sculptra is a popular option because it stimulates the natural production of collagen in the skin. This can help improve your appearance in a gradual and very natural looking way. Results of this treatment can last for up to two years.
