Embrace the Post-Holiday Serenity

Posted December 29, 2023

While there is a thrill that comes with the holidays, it can definitely take a toll on all of us. All the cooking, shopping, and visiting family can make us put self-care on the back burner. In this blog post, we're going to talk about ten different ways for you to recharge and unwind. So, get a cup of tea, a good snack, and get cozy because you don't want to miss this one!

  1. Take a Bath: There is nothing more calming than taking a warm bath when it's cold outside. Elevate the experience by lighting candles, indulging in a glass of wine, and soaking in bubbles to feel luxurious.
  2. Get Cozy With a Good Book: Do you ever get recommendations for great books, which you don't get a chance to read? This is the perfect time to find that big fluffy blanket, get nice and cozy, and let your imagination run wild.
  3. Nature Walks: With all that stress and running around, do you feel the need to reconnect? Although it's still chilly out, bundle up and go on a nature walk. Enjoy the fresh air and the sounds of nature, kids squealing with joy in the park, or the silence of a well-trodden path. You will feel refreshed in no time!
  4. Mindful Meditation: You don't have to be a meditation guru to do this, I promise! Take a couple of deep breaths and just slowly exhale. Just after a couple of deep breaths, you will be ready to conquer your day for sure.
  5. Crafting and Hobbies: Tap into your inner artist and get started on that scarf you have always wanted to knit. This is a great way to start feeling productive for the upcoming year.
  6. Cook a Comforting Meal: While all those holiday treats have delighted you, it's time to look at comfort foods again. Start by whipping up a steaming pot of soup or a hearty stew. If you are still in the mood for treats, try making a batch of cookies. Cooking can be great fun and repurposes all those leftovers sitting in the fridge.
  7. Yoga and Stretching: Preparing your home for the holidays can create an unexpected kink or two. Stretching is a great way to start off your morning. Consider a live or virtual yoga class. You will feel refreshed and rejuvenated. And don't forget to elevate that experience by adding some breathwork!
  8. Digital Detox: Getting dressed up and taking family holiday photos is fun, but don't forget to put the phone down and just be present. Enjoy your time with your family and loved ones because those are the moments you will remember.
  9. Spending Time With Loved Ones: It's nice to spend quality time with family and friends who aren't glued to their phones. Plan something exciting and fun that will keep everyone engaged, like a movie night or a game night. This is also another way to enjoy any remaining treats.
  10. Plan for the Year Ahead: The new year can be time for a new start. Take some time to set goals that are realistic and attainable and give the new year a sense of purpose. And don't forget, make self-care a priority!

This is the perfect time to unwind, destress, and reflect on those things that are important. Set yourself up for a great year ahead, and take that break because you have earned it!
