Microdermabrasion New Jersey
Microdermabrasion is the controlled application of micronized crystals that smoothes the skin resulting in a healthy, youthful glow, with no downtime. It is sometimes combined with a chemical peel resulting in greater improvement. Ask our talented aestheticians about incorporating this into your skin care regiment.
At puberty, our skin begins to show the signs of aging. We develop areas which are prone to acne breakouts, sometimes leaving scars which may persist into adulthood. As time progresses, we develop subtle irregularities and unevenness in our skin. Microdermabrasion is able to improve all of these. It should be incorporated with a program designed to ensure good skin health, such as sunscreens and proper cleansers, as well as products used to ensure soft, smooth skin. Our skin sometimes needs help, despite our best intentions.
How does Microdermabrasion work?
Microdermabrasion removes dry dead skin, allowing softer, healthier skin to come to the surface. A fine jet of natural mineral crystals is sprayed on the face at high speed to loosen the surface irregularities, before they removed. There may be some redness after the procedure, but it usually disappears quickly. The skin feels velvety soft and fresh. It is not possible to remove all unhealthy skin with one session, and several sessions are recommended for maximal improvement. Microdermabrasion works on the following:
- Fine lines and rough patches, particularly on the neck, décolleté and hands
- Stretch Marks
- Chicken pox and acne scars
- Other skin irregularities and unevenness
Am I a good candidate for Microdermabrasion?
The best candidates for microdermabrasion are adolescents or older who have fine lines, age spots, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, sun damage, skin texture irregularity, clogged pores, acne scarring or skin that feels dull or lackluster. A gentle microcrystal spray with suction helps to reduce and eliminate imperfections of the skin by buffing away the top layer of dead skin cells to let new skin show through.
It is particularly useful in younger women who have skin surface irregularities caused by active glands or in any one interested in soft velvety skin. It can also be used in other areas of the body prone to active glands or clogged pores such as the back.
Microdermabrasion is non invasive and is a mild procedure without any downtime. For deeper skin folds or wrinkles, Ulthera can be done in conjunction with Microdermabrasion “prep” for maximum skin tightening.
Will I be irritated after Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion does not create irritation. Some sensitive skins types can have a temporary redness which will be mild and subside a few hours post-treatment.
Is there any downtime with Microdermabrasion?
No, there is no downtime with this service; it is often called a “lunchtime peel”.
