Dysport New Jersey
There is a new way to treat frown lines. Dysport is FDA approved to treat moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in adults less that 65 years of age. It offers an alternative to Botox Cosmetic and offers a natural look by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles.
What is Dysport?
Dysport, gained FDA approval in 2009 for treatment of glabellar frown lines. Botox and Dysport are fundamentally the same in that they block the release of the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine. They target the muscles that cause the wrinkles through repeated contractions. Off label use includes treatment of forehead lines, crow’s feet, and down turned corners of the mouth. They will soften that tired, angry look frequently caused by the muscles between the eyebrows (glabella), improve forehead wrinkles, improve the fine lines around the outside corners of the eye creating a softer appearance by temporarily weakening the facial muscles where injected*.
How is Dysport different from Botox?
Dysport and Botox are similar in action but have several key differences. Dysport is a smaller molecule allowing it to spread a bit more, making it better suited for larger areas such as the forehead. This is also the reason that the effects are usually seen sooner, after 1-2 days. The effect of both products last about 4 months*.
Are there any Side Effects to Dysport?
The treatment is quick and involves several tiny injections which feel like insect bites. Like Botox, there is no downtime. Side effects are uncommon You may have a slight headache or swelling. You can safely repeat the procedure to maintain the improvement*.
Is it safe to receive other treatments at the same time?
Dysport helps to create a natural appearance by reducing wrinkles in certain areas. Patients can safely undergo other treatments such as fillers at the same time to restore a more youthful appearance in other areas*.
